The yards at White Plains, seen from Silver Lake, encompass both of the passenger terminals of the Boston & Westchester Ry. and the Westchester Street Ry. The main street of White Plains is at right center. The B-B electric locomotive in the foreground, No. 515, is the first locomotive George built. It was modeled after a Piedmont & Northern boxcab unit, using only a three-quarter-view photograph as a guide. All Westchester motive power units are equipped with a sizable fly wheel which provides smooth, restrained acceleration and good coasting. |
